Our mission is to publish the Stehekin Choice Newspaper in digital format. Evolving from newspaper paste-up to the web site medium provides a challenging learning curve. Step by step, we dedicate our publishing efforts to share the creative work of those inspired by the Stehekin Valley. Sharing the work of valley writers, photographers, and artists is our primary objective. We believe, however, that this site will provide additional value to the reader. Those considering a visit will discover the length and breadth of quality visitor services available in the valley. Stehekin is the entry port to a vast recreational complex in the North Cascade Mountains of North Central Washington. Stehekin is entirely unique in the world of recreational travel. The Stehekin community resides within the boundaries of the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area. The law creating the North Cascades National Park Complex (a combination of wilderness, park and recreation areas) was a work of art from a governance perspective. The law created a vast area in Washington State recreational benefit of future generations. If you enjoy outdoor recreation, we recommend you consider visiting.
If any community is to survive it must have a voice, character, and vision. There is a way to capture the voice, character and vision for this community and it is best done gradually, truthfully, and sincerely through the revelation of the living story.
